 Fountains Abbey & Studley Watergardens  

 
Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is located approximately 3 miles (5 km) south-west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, near to the village of Aldfield. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years, becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution, by order of Henry VIII, in 1539.

 Brimham Rocks (National Trust ) 

 
Brimham Rocks, once known as Brimham Crags, is a 183.9-hectare (454-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Geological Conservation Review (GCR) site, 8 miles (13 km) north-west of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, on Brimham Moor in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 
 
Once at brimham head off the main track to find all the hidden gems and views.

 The Himalayan Garden  and Sculpture Park 

 
Inspired by the Himalayas, the park & garden is home to over 20,000 plants, including one of the North’s largest collection of rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias. The terrain undulates with steep paths in some areas, meandering through 45 acres of woodlands, gardens, an arboretum, and alongside tranquil lakes with a multitude of wildlife. Over 90 contemporary sculptures are dotted around the park, carefully chosen to enhance the surrounding environment. Dogs are welcome on leads. Steep inclines make it unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Walk around town and look for the Masham Bones – the site of 58 skeletons dating from pre-Norman times and find their final resting place in the churchyard. Visit Marfield Wetlands Nature Reserve on the outskirts of town and enjoy some fine bird-watching from one of the hides. Alternatively just chill out with a picnic

Highside Butchers is a family run business, established for over 30 years and is situated in the centre of Kirkby malzeard next to the post office (that was). 
 
It is run by father and son with the help of two other staff. The majority of the business is generated from customers walking through the door or deliveries to individuals. A few select catering outlets are supplied. 
 
Customers can place orders by phone or email, they are then prepared in advance, saving the customer queuing time. This is advised for deep freeze and other large orders Any reasonably sized orders can be delivered at no extra cost.  All of our meat is of British origin most of which is sourced from local farms. 
Fresh game is also sourced from local estates and mooreland, including grouse and mallard from Dallowgill. Other game available include partridges, hares, pheasants and venison from Studley Royal.
